چکیده
Crack propagation could be catastrophic, and it needs the urgent attention of user. A cracked structure to repaired or replaced at earliest. Costs associated with complete replacement part paves way for former option, especially in aircraft industry. Composite materials have good directional properties strength toughness compared conventional like metals, alloys plastics. In this study carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) has been used repair inclined crack aluminium alloy plate having 1.6 mm thickness. Repaired specimens were subjected fatigue load investigate effectiveness CFRP. By using ply drop technique, damaged restored. Various options evaluated by conducting design experiment. peeling off tendency CFRP patch was observed during study. To suppress tendency, interfacial shear stress between studied more intensely rather than fracture parameters. select optimum configuration MCDM optimisation techniques numerical solutions validated lab experiments.

Fatigue and Anisotropic behaviours of cold rolled AA1200 Aluminium Alloy
This study examines the fatigue and anisotropy behaviour of cold rolled AA1200 aluminium alloy for light weight automotive connecting rod application. Aluminium (Al) 1200 ingots were melted at temperature of 680 0C (after one hour of heating) cast in sand mould and cast samples homogenized for 6 hrs at 480 0C. The cold rolling process was carried out after homogenisation for 10, 20, 30, 40 and ...
متن کاملResidual Strength Improvement of an Aluminium Alloy Cracked Panel
This work deals with the application of the micromechanical Gurson-Tvergaard (GT) model to the determination of the residual strength of analuminumflat stiffened panel (2024 T3) with a central through crack, by means of finite element simulations. The load condition is represented by a monotonic traction along the direction orthogonal to the crack plane. The used Finite Element code is WARP 3D,...
متن کاملFatigue of Friction Stir Welded 2024-T351 Aluminium Alloy
Fatigue failure characteristics of friction stir welds in 13mm gauge 2024-T351 plate have been assessed. Failure occurred from either the weld region (nugget/flow arm) or from the material immediately surrounding the weld. Fatigue failure from the surrounding material was essentially conventional, initiating from large S-phase intermetallic particles and growing in a macroscopic mode I manner. ...
متن کاملEffect of Tool Profile and Fatigue Loading on the Local Hardness Around Scratches in Clad and Unclad Aluminium Alloy 2024
Nanoindentation has been used to study the hardness changes produced by scratching of aluminium alloy AA2024, with and without a clad layer of pure aluminium. The hardness was mapped around scratches made with diamond tools of different profiles. One tool produced significant plastic damage with associated hardening at the scratch root, whilst the other produced a ‘cleaner’ cut with no hardenin...
